Car Belt is Squeaking?

Ok.i have a 97 mercury tracer and my( i believe )alternator belt is squeaking really loud.I put spray on it and it stopped but when im driving it still squeaks.Do I have to replace the belt.I had the belt change about a year and a half ago.
